The edge of the seasons reveals light, color and relationships between coastal brown bears, and their primary food - salmon. With the press of winter moving in, bears move on from the heroic feeding frenzy of the middle of the spawn, to foraging leftover fish and recently spawned fish to fill their tanks. The fur on babies is getting longer and thicker in preparation for winter. Social activity is rampant in happy bears that can eat fish or nearby berries. As a guest of Jerry Jacques Bristol Bay Sportfishing Lodge, I had a daily front-row seat to the most amazing congregations of bear action in Bristol Bay, Alaska.
