Pacific Landscapes sells classic archival color prints that are matted and framed. New for 2007, we also sell images on canvas - gallery-wrapped around a sturdy wooden frame and ready to hang. If you would prefer to use your own presentation options, please call us directly to order unframed prints, or an unstretched canvas.

Classic Framed and Matted Prints

Matted and framed prints are a classic. They show off images dramatically. The white matte provides a calming design element that allows them to be hung almost anywhere. And the frame and glazing provide protection and mobility for years of viewing pleasure. With today's color materials, properly matted and framed prints that are kept out of direct sunlight should resist significant fading or color shift for about a century or more.

We offer framed and matted prints in three basic sizes, as you'll see when you browse the images. (Not all images are available in the largest sizes, but most of them are.) Images are protected with acid-free and archival matting and backing. The larger size images have a 4" white matte border. The smaller size uses a 3" matte. It's topped with UV-absorbing plexiglass. And then secured inside a 1.25" solid-core, matte-surface black frame, complete with mounting wire.

Canvas

Canvas is new and exciting. It provides a three-dimensional presentation option that we photographers never had before. It can be a very powerful way to present an image with all of the focus on the image. Images are archivally printed on cutting-edge canvas by professionals, stretched around a 2.5" hand-built wooden frame, and then finished with mounting wire. In our opinion, canvases need to be large to have an impact. A matte and frame add 8" - 10" horizontally and vertically to a print, making the presentation feel much bigger than just the image. Canvas is the reverse. Not only does it lack a border, it has depth, so the human brain "sees" its size as a funciton of the relationship of the surface area to the depth.
