Sedona October 2012

In our continuing quest to see the stars at night and enjoy non-light polluted skies, we stopped in Sedona on our way to the Grand Canyon in the hopes of finding a suitable red rock formation over which we could make an astro image.  Instead we found a great plateau above 4,000 feet with an unimpeded view in all directions and settled in to watch the sunset, and returned after dinner to image the night sky before moonrise. Our viewpoint was just outside the gates of the residential development The Aerie, which will indeed feature spectacular panoramic views from the homes that get built.
